Nightingale Primary Academy

Inspiring spaces

Nightingale Primary Academy in Leeds is part of the Co-operative Academies Trust. It opened in September 2015 and so far Executive Head Rebecca Ingram has welcomed 170 pupils through its doors. By 2020 the school will accommodate 420 local children where they will be supported to reach, and exceed, expected standards of attainment.

As part of the commitment to nurture all children in a safe and stimulating environment, classroom design and furniture requirements were a high priority and carefully considered. “We want to inspire the will to learn in all our pupils and the physical environment and the furniture in the school plays a huge part in that. We were looking for furniture that complements the building, fits in our specific, and sometimes restricted spaces, meets the needs of the children and which looks great. Bisley were able to deliver all of that in a straight forward and cost effective way.”

We delivered a complete furniture package to Nightingale – including cupboards (standard, coat and open), bookcases, bean bags, mats, folding tables and chairs for the canteen, soft seating plus classroom tables and chairs – as a turnkey ‘one stop shop’ solution, helping to keep things simple for the school during a very busy time.

Sarah Woodland, Head of School, said “Everyone loves the beanbags. They give the children a personal space to read quietly which they might not always get at home and they also allow teachers, or parents, to work with children in a relaxed way – they can have quite a calming effect. The bright colours are also a big hit. The classrooms certainly don’t look dull. ”

We’re really pleased the variety of bold colours on our furniture are drawing the children in and helping improve productivity, communication and learning. It’s good to know we’ve provided such an exciting environment for the children and teachers.
